Apple’s Web Apps - um… these are good why?

As you may have noticed, Apple has released a listing of their supported Web-apps for the iPhone. As highlighted by Engadget, these are “nothing more than a dressed up version of Apple’s bookmark list”. As a result, these iPhone Web-apps are totally useless if you’re not connected! “Essentially, Apple has neatly brought together a selection of company-approved apps that should function fine in Safari, but alas, there’s absolutely no new functionality.”

StopBadware.org’s ‘Trends in Badware 2007′ report identifies some of the most popular attack vectors currently in use by malware writers, while providing a good primer on the topic of malware for the non-technically-inclined.
This is an excellent report written in plain english - and awareness to an important part of the battle. Might be useful to give to anyone who doesn’t ‘get’ the technical stuff…

According to The Unlock iPhone Blog, the law in France says Mobile Phones must be unlockable. Engadget is summising that Apple’s supposed launch of the iPhone in France is being held up by these regulations. Maybe our European friends can teach Apple yet another lesson about doing business openly?
VMware and the mainframe

The industry is gaga over server virtualization as more users look to turn physical servers into consolidated virtual partitions. The irony here is that while the server virtualization chatter focuses on VMware, Xen, Citrix, and Microsoft, the venerable IBM zSeries (i.e. mainframe) will likely be one of the biggest beneficiaries of this virtualization frenzy. We’ve all been wondering what on Earth Apple has been thinking recently right? Don Reisinger believes its all AT&T’s fault. Has Steve Jobs finally been out-foxed by the big Telcos? Is he now at their beck and call?
