Are you satisfied with the OS you use?

According to ChangeWave, “2,013 technology decision makers” rated how satisfied their company was with several operating systems recently (February). Unsurprisingly, the results show Vista having a tough time among corporate users. What perhaps is somewhat surprising, is just how well Leopard is being rated…

This graph from ChangeWave.com’s recent Tech Alert: Poor Grades for Vista report says it all:

Even clearer, is this graph from their Post-Holiday PC Round Up report:012108_pcs3.gif
According to ChangeWave, these results (along with Apple’s amazing sales figures) are all about Leopard:

“Leopard’s high customer satisfaction not only dwarfs its competitors, but it’s having a direct impact on consumer intentions to purchase an Apple computer.”

As a recent Mac-purchaser of course, I would also fall into the 81% - I am very happy with Leopard, and whenever I use Windows XP (mostly for work) I still marvel at the constant little frustrations with XP that I don’t have to deal with on my Mac.

Does this mean Mac’s will eventually “take over the world”? Absolutely not. I agree with Dan Farber’s comments in his recent article Revisiting Apple’s iPhone strategy: “The general consensus is that Apple is the BMW of the personal computer industry and is the standard for innovation that its competitors, with far more market share, follow.”

Where we’ll probably end up is those who can, will buy a Mac and enjoy the benefits - much like BMW analogy. But the majority will simply choose to spend less, and and may not even be aware of the experience they are missing out on…
