blog.iphone-dev.org | PwnageTool 2.0.1: “Just in case you missed it, here’s where you get the Pwnage Tool. I have tried version 2.0.1 on my old iPhone (v1.0), and it worked nicely.” (I can’t see the point of Jailbreaking my new “legit” 3G iPhone at this point.) I did get caught with one thing though…

One of the prompts asks you if you are a “legit iPhone user”. This question is important - it you have unlocked or jailbroken your iPhone to get it to work before, answer “No”. If you answer “Yes”, the tool will not attempt unlock or activate your phone after loading the “Pwned” custom .ipsw file. Since my phone was already ‘permanently’ unlocked with IPSF , it only need to be activated.

So actually, it’s probably better to use “Expert Mode” where you can select exactly the options you specifically want. See iClarified’s excellent step-by-step tutorial for a detailed explaination.
