New Bootloader (4.6) on 1.1.2 iPhones…

The plot thickens… as I mentioned in an update to my previous article, anyone who purchased a new iPhone produced week 45 and onward (around November 9th 2007) will have an updated ‘bootloader’ installed - which, conveniently for Apple and the Telcos, disables ANY of the current software-unlock methods. However, weep not - there still are some options available…

I suppose its no surprise to find out that one of my work colleagues has asked me to ‘help’ him unlock his recently purchased (from the US) iPhone? Of course, what this means is that he openly admits he has no clue technically and I will be the one doing ALL the work. But is he just the tip of a rather large iceberg?

You’ve probably already seen the headline -’T-Mobile forced to sell unlocked iPhones in Germany’ due to Vodafone’s temporary court injunction awarded earlier this week. Of course, you will have to pay €999 (US$1,500) if you want one!!!
