For the moment at least, any version of the iPhone (including the currently selling 1.1.3) is unlockable. However, the next version can’t be far off - likely to be before the end of this month with the promised iPhone SDK - which will no doubt bring a new lockdown. Hot on the heels of the George Hots hack for OTB 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 phones, it appears that Zibri has release a tool called ZiPhone. Apparently, his software is based on George’s hack and previous exploits, and is designed to unlock any released version of iPhone!

The plot thickens… as I mentioned in an update to my previous article, anyone who purchased a new iPhone produced week 45 and onward (around November 9th 2007) will have an updated ‘bootloader’ installed - which, conveniently for Apple and the Telcos, disables ANY of the current software-unlock methods. However, weep not - there still are some options available…
